Call to Action: Support Expanding Bikeshare to Makiki

05/09/2018

Show your support for community improvements that make the roads safer and more accessible for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers! Please continue reading to learn more about how you can help advocate for bikeshare in Makiki, and demonstrate support for the Pensacola Street protected bikeway project.

Support Expanding Biki to Serve Makiki Residents:

Bikeshare Hawaii is responding to the community demand for Biki. Please review potential Biki Stop locations, and let your Makiki Neighborhood Board representatives know you support Biki expansion into Makiki. Our priority for Biki Stop locations is wide sidewalks, off-street locations, on-street in no parking areas, and an existing parking spot as a last resort.

Bikeshare Hawaii has proposed a variety of site locations and location types in Makiki. Not all 18 sites will move forward, but we will likely need a mix of location types in order to provide the station density that can support reliable service to Makiki residents.
Potential Makiki Expansion Site
Makiki Residents: Will expanding into Makiki make bikeshare a feasible transportation option that you can begin to utilize?
If you're a current Biki user,  would expansion enable you to ride even more?

Makiki Neighborhood Board Meeting
THURSDAY, MAY 17th, 2018 | 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Makiki residents showing up in person to share their personal experiences relating to Biki and being available for questions goes a long way. Please email justine@bikesharehawaii.org if you can attend in person, submit written testimony, or if you have any questions.

Support the Funding of Pensacola St Protected Bike Lanes

The proposed budget moving through City Council has been stripped of funds to build the Pensacola St. protected bike lane. Without these funds, the project is dead and the community loses the opportunity to improve bicyclist safety along this important mauka/makai corridor. We need a strong show of support to tell them that bike safety and bikeways are critically needed for public safety!
