Yesterday Biki got a little bit bigger as we increased the size of four existing Biki Stops and installed two brand new ones! This mini expansion added 58 docking points, bringing the system total to 1713, to accommodate the heavy use and growing demand in these areas.

Riders can now check in and out bikes from Waikiki Biki Stop #333 on Paokalani and Ala Wai Boulevard. This new station will help to alleviate the traffic from our most popular Biki Stop (#331) found just a few blocks away, and will offer greater assurance that bikes and docks are available when you need them. We also filled in a gap right outside Pacific Park Plaza in Kakaako with the addition of #208 on Cooke and Kawaiahao. Located in close proximity to residential units and popular businesses such as Kaiser, La Cucina, the Rice Place, and Cooke Street Market, this station is sure to be a popular one!

The team also added extra docking points to the following popular Biki Stops:

– Biki Stop #236 Piikoi & Waimanu
– Biki Stop #207 Ilalo & Coral
– Biki Stop #520 Kanaina & Monsarrat
– Biki Stop #318 Lewers & Manukai
(locations indicated in yellow in the map below)

Practice makes perfect. Despite the rain, less than 6 hours were needed to complete all 6 projects. The new Biki Stops were turned on and available on the Biki App immediately. Yesterday’s installation served as great practice for our larger expansion phase – coming up this summer! See the potential sites and learn more about our plans on our website.

Don’t forget to stop by our first Expansion Open House anytime between 6-8pm next Thursday 3/29 at Jefferson Elementary School. We’ll have lots of info about our summer plans and would love to hear from the community and answer any questions you may have. Free and open to the public, parking is available on Wai Nani Way. Additional Open Houses will be held on 4/10 and 4/17.
